American Classics - Colonial Salt Glaze Limited Editions

These Pieces will have prominent brown, yellow & green tones

A unique feature of this classic collection is "Sprigging"

"Sprigging" referrers to applying of a "raised" decoration on the piece

The Harvest Jug (on the left in top picture)
Holds 3&1/2 quarts and is 12"high by 9" wide.  The Harvest Jug has TWO spouts, one was used for filling and the other for pouring.  It was often used to hold hard cider in colonial times, the smaller pouring spout was sized to allow pouring the contents directly into one's mouth, no glass or drinking vessel was needed.

The Butter Churn (in the center in top picture)
Holds 4 Gallons and is 27"high (including the "dasher" or churn rod, 18" high without) by 12" wide.  Copied from early American churns from the 1840's. This style has flattened lugs (handles) on the sides and a recessed lid.

The Harvest Pitcher (on the right in top picture)
Holds 2&1/2 gallons and is 13&1/2"high by 11" wide.  The Harvest Pitcher is modeled after 17th century English pitchers that came with the colonists and was referred to as a "Fancy Jug".  It has a spherical shape that was useful to hold large volumes of liquids and a stout handle to support the pitcher when pouring.
